New Beginnings

I wasn’t sure where to start or what to say for my first official blog post.  I’ve written in the past, but starting most things (especially writing) is typically hard for me.  I have flashbacks to writing papers in college.  I would have a hard time getting started, but once I got going, I was hard to stop (many people close to me can corroborate that pattern.)  So here I am.  Is sharing a blog a new beginning?  Of sorts.  I feel a renewed interest in learning and growing and stretching and am excited to have this platform to share my experiences and thoughts with you.  My hope is that this is a space where I can grow, reflect, and share, and through this, we can learn from one another and live in community.

I’ve been trying to reflect back on when this journey of new beginnings and testing limits began, but of course, all of the events of my life are tied together.  Did it start when I was two and I dragged my baby cousin out of her crib and carried her down the hall to ‘care for her’ and bring her to her mother?  Was is it when I was in college creating fundraisers in the dorm to raise money for charities?  Or did it begin when I became a wife and mother and would lead exercise classes in the community or host happy hours to promote connection? This is not to ‘toot my own horn.’  This is to say that movement, being in relation with others and community have been woven through every fiber of me being and this is how I want to continue my life; on purpose, with purpose.

So as I wander into this new format of communication, I want to make sure the foundation is community and the focus is purpose.  I believe that all pieces of us are connected; mind, body, and spirit.  And we are all connected to one another.  It’s these connections that make this a hard and beautiful place to live.  My hope is that through my passion for connection and my purpose in this hard and beautiful world, that I do my part in helping people feel ‘seen.’  In a sense, it’s not a new beginning, but a continued stretching, to see what’s beyond, what’s next.

Walk with me.  Share with me.  Teach me. Let’s learn together.  I see you.

With love and gratitude,

L

I saw this beautiful bird on a recent hike; standing strong, ready to take flight. It feels like what new beginnings could be; possibility, freedom, joy. Take flight everyone!!!
